Your kids will have a totally awesome, fun-filled and jam-packed day! In between the exciting relay races, why not try your hand at rope making, archery, or checking out the petting zoo? Or you can just sit in the shade with a scoop of old fashioned ice cream while taking in the live fiddle music. There is something for everyone on this jam packed day of fun!
The LOUIS RIEL RELAY RACE is a competitive, fun and high energy adventure race that consists of running, biking, horse riding, canoeing, and a weighted pack run. All skills that would have been utilized during the fur trade, which were mostly operated by Métis and Indigenous outfitters.
There are three races that are run throughout the day for teams of all abilities and skill sets: a competitive relay for the most hard-core of athletes, a shorter recreational relay for adults who just want to have fun in a team atmosphere, and a youth relay for children to test their Métis voyageur skills and endurance - all of which include canoeing, horseback riding, pack running, biking, running, and horseback riding (horse and riders are provided).
*Prizes available to teams placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each event.
